Have Your Say - Property licensing schemes consultation
31 August 2016

Redbridge Council is asking for your opinion on two proposed property licensing schemes for the Borough.

The aim of the proposed Selective Licensing schemes is to license all properties rented to single family households in certain areas of the Borough.

Through the schemes we want to protect residents from:

  • living in poor housing conditions and
  • experiencing anti-social behaviour

We want to work with landlords to create a consistent standard for rented properties.

Read more about the proposed licensing schemes(PDF 268KB) andhave your say on the consultation.

The Selective Licensing consultationruns for 12 weeks and ends on 16 October 2016.

What areas will the schemes cover?

The first scheme covers two wards:

Clementswood andValentines.

The second scheme covers14 wards:

How did we decide on these wards?

The 14 wards all meet the Secretary of States’ criteria to implement a scheme. They all have a higher than average number of private rented sector properties and high migration as well as significant and persistent anti-social behaviour associated with these rented properties.
