Redbridge Council is suggesting a change in the Eligibility Criteria (the 'rules' which are used to decide who receives a service) in order to meet the growing demand for services and the need to stay within the budget.

Redbridge Adult Social Services are consulting with the public for three months and would like to hear what you have to say by attending one of the public meetings. You can download a flyer with the details here.

Job Opportunity - Redbridge Supported Volunteering Scheme

We are looking to employ a part-time Project Assistant (14 hours per week) and we will be paying £8.50 per hour.

The main purpose of the post is to support the Volunteer Development Officer in developing and promoting volunteering opportunities for people with mental health problems.

Willow Dome Planting Day - Sunday 25th February

Forest Farm Peace Garden is holding a Willow Dome Planting Day on Sunday 25th February from 11am to 4pm at the Forest Farm Community Gardens, end of Hazelbrouck Gardens, Ilford, IG6 2XL.

The Peace Garden is a community garden working with a broad cross-section of the community to promote health, mental well-being, environmental sustainability and intercultural awareness.

Forest Farm Peace Garden - Job Opportunity

Forest Farm Peace Garden are looking for a part time Volunteer Support Worker (8 hours per week). The hourly rate is £12 per hour and would entail working on Sundays between 11 - 5pm. It is a fixed term post until end of Feb 2008.

The main purpose of the post is to provide direct one-to-one and group support to volunteers who are working in the garden. The Support Worker will also assist the Volunteer Coordinator to develop and implement the Mentoring Programme.

Woman's Trust Counselling and Support Services

The Woman's Trust is a specialist counselling service for women who are or have experienced domestic violence. We offer eighteen one-to-one counselling sessions, weekly support groups and self-development workshops. Women can self refer or referrals can be made by agencies with the woman's consent.

Domestic violence is physical, emotional, financial, sexual or psychological abuse between adults who are or have been intimate partners, or family members such as between mother and son. All Woman's Trust services are confidential and are provided by women.

Our services are free to any women living or working in London and we run sessions at various venues across East London.

Woman's Trust - Job Opportunities

The Woman's Trust are looking to employ two workers: A full time female advocacy worker (covering the borough of Westminster). Salary - SO1 pt 29 £26277 incl ILW + 6% pension Section.

The second position is a P/T Female Group worker (Person Centred) -18hrs pw - who would be responsible for delivering a programme of support groups and workshops in East London boroughs. The salary is - SO2 pt 32 £27,810 pro rata + 6% pension.

Mental Health Services will need major spending boost to implement Government Policy in full, says new report

Substantial extra resources have gone into mental health care in recent years, but total spending still needs to rise by a further 50% in real terms, and staff numbers by nearly 40%, to implement Government policy, according to a recent report published by the Sainsbury Centre for Mental Health

This report assesses the service, workforce and financial implications of achieving the seven standards of the National Service Framework for adult mental health care and of implementing subsequent guidance by 2010/11.

New handbook for black and ethnic minority mental health workers

A new handbook dealing in the 'nitty gritty' of life as a community development worker in mental health has been produced for black and ethnic minority staff. The booklet aims to clarify guidance issued by the government in an attempt to broaden the mental health workforce.
