Redbridge Concern for Mental Health unveiled as Sainsbury’s Barkingside’s new Local Charity

A local charity is set to benefit from a year’s fundraising thanks to Sainsburys Barkingside customers and colleagues. Redbridge Concern for Mental Health, has been chosen as Sainsbury’s Barkingside’s new Local Charity partner for 2012/2013. The announcement comes after the store asked Barkingside customers which local charity they should provide a year’s support to. Customers were ableto vote for their favourite local charity between 9th and 23rdMay.

The partnership will officially launch on Saturday, 1 September and customers can now choose to make a donation in-store to RCMH who are situated on Ilford Lane, Ilford. Last year, the initiative supported over 1000 charities and organisations across the UK through fundraising and volunteering and gave more than £1.5 million of support to local communities. Sainsbury’s Barkingside’s Local Charity partner last year was HattonSchool & Special Needs Centre.

During the next 12 months, colleagues will be providing fundraising support for RCMH and raising awareness of the charity with the local community. Barkingside’s Store Manager Chris Wager said: "Redbridge Concern for Mental Health is such a worthy local cause and we’re pleased and proud to be supporting it overthe next 12 months. We’ll be letting our customers know of our fundraising plans in-store and we hope they can join our colleagues in helping support them”.

Margaret Summers, General Manager of RCMH said: "I’d like to thankeveryone at Sainsbury’s Barkingside who’s nominated us to be the store’s new Local Charity partner. I hope this partnership will raise awareness to Redbridge residents about what we do and the impact we have in the community. We now lookforward to a successful year working with the store’s colleagues on this exciting initiative”.
