Domestic Violence One Stop Shop at Loxford Polyclinic

Everyone has the right to live free from abuse and fear. If you are experiencing domestic violence you may feel frightened, alone and confused. The new weekly Domestic Violence One Stop Shop provides a completely free and confidential service every Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm at the Loxford Polyclinic in Ilford Lane.

There is no need to book an appointment, just turn up and drop in for free confidential help and advice from the police, Independent Domestic Violence Advocates and solicitors.

Congratulations to Air Football’s Colm Whitty who won the Tony Adams Awards for outstanding work in the community and for raising awareness about mental health.

Out and About in Redbridge - What's Going on?

There are a whole range of events going on around Redbridge over the next month or so including the thinkarts creative writing group; Gypsy Dance & Music at the Kenneth Moore Theatre on Sunday 13 June; five-a-side training and football with airfootball; open sessions at the Redbridge Music Lounge as well as the weekly dementia information and advice drop in at King Georges Hospital.

From sick notes to fit notes

On 6 April, the sick note has become the fit note. GPs can still advise people they 'should refrain from work' but the new option allows them to say that patients 'may be fit for work' taking account of certain factors. For more information, read the ACAS Summary

Working it out: employment for people with a mental health condition

The link between employment and positive mental health is an issue of great importance for the NHS, both in terms of supporting service users to recover from mental health conditions and for improving staff productivity. Between 10 per cent and 16 per cent of people with a mental health condition, excluding depression, are in employment. However, between 86 and 90 per cent of this group want to work. Meaningful work is integral to recovery.

Employers who take steps to improve the management of mental health at work can help to improve staff productivity and save money. As the NHS enters a challenging period for future funding, reducing the costs of staff sickness absence and driving up productivity are critical. This Briefing outlines the key themes from recently launched government policies in this field and sets out actions for the NHS, as both an employer and service provider.

2010 Sports Day at the North East London NHS Foundation Trust

Fit for 2012 Sports Day which is being held on 7 July 2010, 11am - 4pm will be a day of sporting & fitness activities and celebrating the arts in the grounds of Goodmayes Hospital.
