Redbridge Strategic Partnership is making funding available to local organisations working around community cohesion and community engagement.

Funding amounts available are from £1,000 up to a maximum of £5,000

There are a whole range of events going on around Redbridge over the next month including the thinkarts creative writing group; five-a-side training and football with airfootball and open sessions at the Redbridge Music Lounge.

Redbridge Transport Action Group

We are a local group of disabled and older people who want to improve accessible transport for everyone. We aim to inform local people about the services available, and to campaign.

Whether its Dial-a-Ride, Taxicard, buses or the Tube, Redbridge Transport Action Group is the voice of accessible transport users.

The next meeting is on 23rd Feb 2011 in the York Room at Ilford Central Library, Clements Road, IG1 1AE at 2pm. We will be discussing cuts to the Taxicard service.

Expert Parents

Haven House and Interface are working together and planning a series of 30 sessions to empower, inform and educate parents/carers of disabled children, to become more expert in the care of their children.

A series of sessions through February and March will explore a range of topics and themes including: equalities legislation; transition to adulthood; the Mental Capacity Act; care pathways and managing sleep issues.

Sleep Matters

Sleep affects us all and can affect mental health so profoundly that it has been chosen by the Mental Health Foundation as a major public mental health theme for 2011.

As well as highlighting the importance of sleep for mental and physical wellbeing, Sleep Matters provides evidence-based advice on how to improve the quality of sleep. This includes simple ways to improve 'sleep hygiene', like adjusting the light, noise and temperature in the bedroom and changing eating, drinking and exercise routines. It includes advice on how Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) can be more effective in helping people with long-term insomnia than medication, and how NHS policy could be changed to reflect this.
