This summer, The National Autistic Society will be launching their next major campaign focusing on child mental health services.

If you're the parent of someone with an autism spectrum disorder aged 21 or younger who has experienced mental health problems (including anxiety and behaviour problems) the NAS would like to hear from you. Find out more here.

Saturday Drop in - 13 February - For people living with dementia and their families

The next Saturday Drop in is on Saturday 13th February at the Living Well Resource Centre, 372 Chadwell Heath Lane, Romford, RM6 4YG from 10.30am to 1.30pm.

EMERGENCE....discovering the creative self

An inspirational multi-disciplinary exhibition of artwork by London artists who identify with the symptoms and issues surrounding Personality Disorder. Visual art, film, sculpture, debates, workshops, talks and performances throughout this 5 week show.

New Horizons

New Horizons is a comprehensive programme of action for improving the mental well-being of the population and the services that care for people with poor mental health by 2020. It brings together organisations across national and local Government, voluntary and statutory agencies, as well as local communities and individuals to work towards a society that values mental well-being as much as physical health.

The New Horizons strategy brings with it a new set of ambitions for the next 10 years of mental health policy in England.

Count Me In Census

Figures released today by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) show that five years on from the first Count me in census [1] people from black and minority ethnic communities remain 3 times more likely than average to be detained under the Mental Health Act and there is still no evidence of a decline in admissions. The survey also shows the use of mixed sex wards remains unacceptably high, with 67 per cent of patients still on mixed sex wards, a figure which rises to 76 per cent for women.

The NHS, councils and wider community bodies should improve preventative services to ensure they meet the mental health needs of people from black and minority ethnic (BME) groups, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) has said as it publishes the Count me in census.

Health for North East London Consultation

Consultation is currently open on proposals for the future of hospital healthcare in north east London, and will continue until 8 March 2010.

This consultation follows extensive engagement with clinicians and NHS staff, patients and the public, across the whole area, during recent months.
