'Paint the Town Red' is the title of our annual art exhibition, held in partnership with thinkarts, to celebrate World Mental Health Week.

Alzheimer Cafe - Tuesday 13 July 2010

For everyone interested or affected by Alzheimer's or other forms of Dementia - the Alzheimer Cafe, Redbridge has invited Jennifer Wenborn - Clinical Research Fellow - Life Stories.

The event is on Tuesday 13 July from 11am to 1pm at IRDSA Hall, Craven Gardens, Barkingside, IG6 1PS (Next to car park)

Out and About in Redbridge - What's Going on?

There are a whole range of events going on around Redbridge over the next month including the thinkarts creative writing group; five-a-side training and football with airfootball; open sessions at the Redbridge Music Lounge as well as the weekly dementia information and advice drop in at King Georges Hospital.

Redbridge LINk Meetings

Are you interested in becoming more involved in the work of the Redbridge LINk? If so, Redbridge Local Involvement Network (LINK) is a network for anyone that has an opinion about health or social care in Redbridge. Two groups have been set up to tackle health related topics and social care issues.

Your Story, Tuesday 22 June - Saturday 21 August

As part of Learning Disability Week 2010, Redbridge Museum will be displaying a history of the Woodbine Club House and the Burnside Centre both of which have been set up to work with adults with a learning disability.

Venue: Redbridge Museum, 2nd Floor Ilford Central Library, Clements Road, Ilford, IG1 1EA. Times: Tuesday to Friday from 10am - 5pm and on Saturdays from 10am - 4pm. Entrance is free and the display is suitable for all ages.

Attitudes to mental illness 2010 research report

The latest national statistics on Attitudes to Mental Illness which has been carried on an annual basis since 1997 serves as a benchmark, enabling measurement of whether attitudes are improving or worsening over time.

There are mixed findings. Some attitudes towards people with mental illness are worse compared to when the Department of Health first commissioned the poll in 1994 whilst a number have improved.

Opinions on some statements changed towards greater tolerance, for example: 'Locating mental health facilities in a residential area downgrades the neighbourhood' - agreement with this statement decreased from 21% to 18% and some opinions moved more in favour of integrating people with mental illness into the community.

Domestic Violence One Stop Shop at Loxford Polyclinic

Everyone has the right to live free from abuse and fear. If you are experiencing domestic violence you may feel frightened, alone and confused. The new weekly Domestic Violence One Stop Shop provides a completely free and confidential service every Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm at the Loxford Polyclinic in Ilford Lane.

There is no need to book an appointment, just turn up and drop in for free confidential help and advice from the police, Independent Domestic Violence Advocates and solicitors.
